Your Guide to Testamentary Guardianship

Our Guide to Testamentary Guardianship

Who will look after your children if you are not around?

If you have children under 18, one of the most important things you can do is decide who would care for them if you were no longer here. This is called appointing a testamentary guardian. You can (and should do) this in your Will.

If you do not make this legal decision, the Court will have to choose someone. In the meantime, your children could go into the care of social services. Even if you have made a verbal agreement with a friend or family member, that would not be enough in the eyes of the law.

Our free guide explains:

  • What testamentary guardianship means
  • Who can be a guardian
  • What to think about when choosing guardians
  • How to support them financially
  • What happens if no guardian is named

Planning ahead gives you peace of mind and helps protect your children’s future.
